Explore the Different Types of Saunas

A few minutes of deep, soothing heat melts away the day’s stress. Emerge relaxed, revived, and ready for whatever the day brings. Saunas are not only great for relaxing and recuperating after a long day or a hard workout, sauna bathing also offers an array of benefits for both your physical and your mental health that are almost too numerous to list. From cleansing your skin and helping you sleep better to burning calories, flushing toxins, and improving cognitive function, these little heated rooms are nothing short of a miracle.

There are a few different styles of sauna, and each one has something unique to offer. To help you understand the differences between each of the sauna types and make your selection a bit more simple, we’ve compiled a quick and easy guide to all of the Finnleo®️ saunas that Aqua Quip has to offer.

Traditional Saunas

Traditional saunas are similar to the original saunas, which originated in Finland over 2000 years ago. That means that when you sit in a sauna, you are taking part in a tradition that has lasted over two millennia! Simply put, these saunas are wood-lined rooms adorned with heaters filled with rocks you can ladle water over to create steam. If you’d prefer a dry experience, you can refrain from scooping the water and simply enjoy the many benefits of relaxing in the heated air.

We offer several indoor and traditional portable saunas made with Clear Canadian Hemlock on both the exterior and interior. The body is finished with biodegradable wood treatment, which makes for simple maintenance and a lavish look. Features include a Bluetooth sound system, a color therapy lighting system, and interior low voltage lighting, which typically takes 30 minutes to heat.

Infrared Saunas

Infrared saunas don’t look too different from their traditional counterparts, but it’s not the appearance that differentiates them. It’s the execution.

A traditional sauna will use heated rocks and water to heat the air in the room, however, infrared saunas actually use, you guessed it, infrared light to get the job done. By using infrared light to provide heat, these saunas can actually warm your body directly. With the patented EvenHeat System from Finnleo®️, you’ll be able to enjoy an even level of warmth throughout your whole body.

Infrared saunas offer all of the health benefits of a traditional sauna while also offering other advantages thanks to infrared light. Infrared saunas are a bit more body-friendly than traditional saunas, as they can provide the same benefits at lower temperatures. They do not require any heat-up time, either, so you can save time with them. Perhaps best of all is how eco-friendly these saunas can be. Infrared technology is highly efficient, and using your infrared sauna has identical power requirements as a typical household appliance.

InfraSaunas

Can’t decide which type of sauna you like best? Well then, the InfraSauna might be the solution you’re looking for. InfraSaunas are a hybrid of traditional and infrared saunas, meaning they offer both hot rock steam heat and infrared light heat, so you don’t have to decide between one or the other.

Sometimes you might want to kick back and relax in the calming steam of a traditional sauna, and other times you might be in a rush, and you need the speedy heat-up of the infrared sauna to make sure you can get where you’re going on time. Whatever your reasons may be, the InfraSauna allows for the freedom of choice you’re looking for.

Which Sauna Is Best for Me?

Choosing which of the sauna types is best for you will depend on your particular needs and your budget. Ultimately you can’t go wrong with any of the three different types available, so don’t sweat it if you’re having trouble selecting. Also, there is the option of getting a custom-built sauna to meet your exact needs. For more information about saunas, be sure to check out the North American Sauna Society.
